Google Nexus 5 in black delayed for a week for new orders

The Nexus 5 is already enough of a hit that Google has burned through stock, delaying the black version for a week.

The Nexus 5 is on sale now -- and it's already been enough of a hit that Google has burned through stock, delaying the black version for a week for new orders. Fingers crossed we're not about to see a repeat of the Nexus 4 debacle .

The white version of Google's new flagship phone is still in stock, and if you buy it now your new phone will leave the warehouse in one or two days. But if you want the none-more-black model, your order won't leave the warehouse until 8 November -- a week today.

Those quick off the mark last night should see their new phone ship in 1-2 business days, so should hopefully be on its way today.

The Nexus 5 is the first phone to show off Android 4.4 KitKat , the latest version of Google's software for mobile phones and tablets

Here's hoping the new Nexus phone's stock wobbles don't lead to a repeat of the Nexus 4's problems. The Nexus 4 was out of stock for months, with Google and LG, the phone's manufacturer, blaming each other for supply problems.

If you want to buy the Nexus 5 with a contract for chatting, texting and data-ing, it's available from Three and O2 on deals from £32 . Meanwhile, Vodafone and EE have turned their noses up at the new phone and won't be selling it.

The 16GB Nexus 5 costs £299 on its own without a contract, while the 32GB model will set you back £339 SIM-free. If you're tempted, click here for the Nexus 5 UK price and release date .
