CNET UK Podcast 175: The great universal broadband debate

On the show this week, Ian, Flora and Rich talk about the state of the nation's broadband, and discuss what's more important, speed for a few, or universal access

This week on the CNET UK Podcast, Rich joined Ian and Flora to chat about the hottest tech news and our favourite gadgets of the day. On the agenda this time, we ponder ultra-fast 100Mbps broadband from Virgin, the BBC murdering two radio stations and half a Web site, and Apple's iTunes censorship.

BBC to cull 6Music, Asian Network and reduce Web sites by 50 per cent
Virgin announces 100Mbps broadband and expansion of 200Mbps trial
Apple removes 'raunchy' apps from itunes store

Sony's interchangeable lens system
HTC Legend

This week we discussed universal broadband versus super-fast broadband for some. It almost goes without saying that, in an ideal world, there should be super-fast broadband for every man, woman and child in the UK. But the reality is that a good percentage of the UK population doesn't have access to decent broadband at all. We also asked what you think, in our regular podcast poll, the results of which can be viewed here. There's also still time to vote, if you want to make your opinion heard.

This week we were once again amazed by the general public. Two of them have managed to get married in an Apple store, substituting religious fervour with blind fanboy/girlism for Apple and their dark polo-necked master, Steve Jobs.
