BlackBerry 10 is off to a "solid start". BlackBerry reveals that sales of the BB10 software are better than expected, even selling out in some places.and new
Of course, it's easy to sell out when you haven't got many phones to sell in the first place. But BlackBerry boss Stephen Bates is optimistic, telling a conference of app developers in Amsterdam that sales have "exceeded all of our launch partners' expectations".
It was Bates, you may remember, who turned up on radio and TV last week to publicise the launch of BlackBerry 10 and managed to sayabout the product he was supposed to be promoting. But the folks at BlackBerry seems to have put that missed opportunity behind them.
The limited white version of the Z10, available, sold out quickly. The black version is available across various networks including Three, O2, EE and Vodafone.
BlackBerry hasn't provided actual sales figures, so we're going to take this bullish pronouncement with a pinch of salt. The proof of the pudding will be in independent sales figures and in BlackBerry's financial results, to be revealed further down the line.
We like the Z10's lightweight design, great camera features and interesting software, although it still has a few kinks to work out. We're looking forward to seeing what's next from BlackBerry, withrumoured for this year.
