BBC iPlayer to go HD this month

According to reports from the FT Digital Media conference, a top BBC bod has commented that the eagerly awaited arrival of HD on iPlayer will happen this month

The BBC's excellent iPlayer service will be getting a dedicated high-definition channel in the next month, according to comments reported this morning by Jana Bennett, director of BBC Vision.

The remarks were made during a during a panel discussion on 'coping strategies and winning strategies for traditional media' and quickly tweeted by attendees at today's FT Digital Media and Broadcasting Conference. The BBC has promised Crave a big announcement shortly, with more detail on how the HD iPlayer will work.
