Apple acknowledges MacBook shutdown--kind of

Apple Computer seems to have finally acknowledged the issue of MacBook notebooks randomly shutting down. Well, sort of.

"If your MacBook is shutting down intermittently, please contact AppleCare for service," says an Apple Support Web page titled "MacBook: Shuts down intermittently." The sentence contains a link to Apple's general support page.

randomly shutting themselves off have been circulating since July. MacBookRandomShutdown.com, a Web site dedicated to the issue, was created by a MacBook owner in August. Since then, about 574 MacBook owners have joined the site's complaint registry with the hopes of getting a resolution to their problem, or at least an official response from Apple.

When asked for more information on the situation, an Apple spokeswoman referred to the one-line-statement page.
