REVIEW

Samsung HMX-QF20 ( Black)

For good-enough video for Web sharing and a 20x zoom lens, the Samsung HMX-QF20 gets the job done.

Panasonic HDC-TM700 ( 32GB, Black)
REVIEW

Panasonic HDC-TM700 ( 32GB, Black)

The flash-based Panasonic HDC-TM700 and its hard-disk sibling, the HDC-HS700, stand out for their low-light video quality and broad set of manual controls. However, while the TM700 is very attractively priced for its class, the HS700 is not, and not worth the price premium unless you absolutely need the hard disk.

REVIEW

Panasonic SDR-S50 ( Black)

The Panasonic SDR-S50 standard-definition camcorder is worth considering for its manual controls and powerful zoom lens in a very compact body--not video quality.

Samsung HMX-R10 (Black)
REVIEW

Samsung HMX-R10 ( Black)

The Samsung HMX-R10's plentiful shooting features and fine-quality HD video for its class--at least in good lighting--make it a very good compact HD camcorder. However, its design definitely isn't for everyone.

Panasonic HDC-HS300
REVIEW

Panasonic HDC-HS300

A very good prosumer HD camcorder, the Panasonic HDC-HS300 still isn't as good a deal as the similarly featured but flash-based TM300 and has the same annoying touch-screen interface.

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 (Orange)
REVIEW

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 ( Orange)

The MHS-PM1 Webbie HD represents a step forward for Sony in the minicamcorder arena--but some quirks and only OK video quality prevent it from being compelling enough to best the competition.

REVIEW

Panasonic HDC-HS100

Though it has a nice feature set for the price, the Panasonic HDC-HS100 doesn't deliver the quality of video you expect from an HD camcorder in its price segment.

JVC Everio GZ-MS100 (silver, PAL)
REVIEW

JVC Everio GZ-MS100 ( silver, PAL)

The JVC Everio GZ-MS100 is an average budget SD-card-based camcorder that's more attractive for its small design and relatively average video quality than its unique interface and one-touch uploads to YouTube.

Panasonic SDR-SW20 (Silver)
REVIEW

Panasonic SDR-SW20 ( Silver)

The Panasonic SDR-SW20's only saving grace is its water-, shock-, and dust-proof body (and even those have limitations). Otherwise, there's no reason to buy this pocket camcorder.
