While it's short on inputs, Panasonic's affordable SC-PT750 delivers DVD upscaling, wireless surround speakers, an iPod dock, and some surprisingly decent sound quality for a great price.

If you can look past the quirky interface and high price, the sexy Harman Kardon HS 300 delivers sophisticated styling, solid performance, and better connectivity and speakers than last year's model.

This, the original Sonos Digital Music System, is still a very slick solution for affordably distributing your music throughout your house. But if you already count an amplifier or an A/V receiver as part of your existing music system, the ampless Sonos ZP80 bundle is a better bet.

If you're not looking for the virtual surround effects found on more elaborate (and expensive) single-speaker audio systems, the affordable Boston Acoustics TVee Model Two sounds swell, looks good, and includes a cool wireless subwoofer.

The JBL On Stage II's new wireless remote makes these attractive iPod speakers even easier to use, but we're still disappointed by its bulky AC adapter and its lightweight bass response.

Cambridge SoundWorks' PlayDock i has desirable features, decent sound quality, and a semi-portable design--you could do much worse for an iPod-ready tabletop speaker unit.
