eMachines T3642
Reviewed on February 11, 2008
eMachines nailed the $300-$400 desktop with the T3642. It has a faster CPU, a larger hard drive, and is generally more capable than any other system in this price category. We would recommend it over anything else out there for the same price.

This is one of the best ruggedized laptops, perfect for war zones and other tough environments, but it's too expensive for the average user.

EMachines T6420 - Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2 GHz
Reviewed on February 15, 2006
The eMachines T6420 delivers major bang for your buck, including a roomy 200GB hard drive and upgradability in a fixed-configuration retail box. Still, we wish it were able to outperform the model it replaces.

eMachines T5048
Reviewed on September 26, 2006
Though it's a capable PC, particularly for the price, the budget eMachines T5048 starts to lose its appeal when you look at desktops that cost just $100 or so more. It's is a good pick if you need to keep to a strict budget, but otherwise we recommend spending a little more.

eMachines T5212
Reviewed on October 3, 2006
eMachines T5212 is not our runaway budget winner, but it makes a strong attempt. It has better support features than its main competition and a less gaudy design. Its performance, however, is held back by specs that are either too slow, too old, or too small.

Reviewed on May 22, 2006
The Profile 6SB from Gateway is an all-in-one PC that offers the configurability, manageability, and lower price of a standard desktop. But it sacrifices so much in the way of design, we wonder, why bother?

Sony VAIO RC310G
Reviewed on June 9, 2006
If you absolutely must be the first on the block with a Blu-ray device, the Sony VAIO RC310G is your pick by virtue of it being the first Blu-ray PC to hit the street. Slow burning speeds and the high cost of blank media, however, dampen our enthusiasm.

EMachines T5226
Reviewed on April 29, 2007
eMachines' new T5226 desktop is powerful enough to run Windows Vista smoothly. It should also power you through most of the common modern-day applications without too much fuss. We just wish it offered more compelling hardware for the money. You can find faster, more-capable PCs for basically the same price.
