Reviewed on April 28, 2009The Color LaserJet CP1215 is HP's entry-level printer built to serve small workgroups, but it suffers from frustratingly slow print speeds, a missing LCD screen, and other problems. Your $299 will go much further with the Dell 1320c, another color laser with faster print speeds for the same price.TAGS:printer, laser printer, tray, laser, networking, HP, Apple Macintosh, control panel, LCD, operating system, Microsoft Windows
Reviewed on July 31, 2009We've never loved HP's Pavilion Elite PCs, and this desktop offers the same scattershot configuration that has always put us off. That said, we suspect a dorm room might actually be an appropriate place for a midtower that offers acceptable speed on top of Blu-ray capability. Just know that faster, more specialized desktops are available for less.TAGS:HP Pavilion Elite, HP Pavilion, Blu-ray, ASUS, HP, 64-bit, networking, Ethernet, 3D, AMD, hard drive
Reviewed on July 23, 2009The Asus Essentio CM5570-AP006 will give you fair performance and a well-rounded set of features for its price, and we recommend it if you specifically need a midbudget, midtower desktop. In the grand scheme of retail PCs, however, a more affordable slimtower from Gateway gives this system a major challenge on performance and value, which dampens our enthusiasm for the Asus.TAGS:ASUS, Dell Inspiron, HP Pavilion, Gateway Inc., HP, networking, Dell, 64-bit, video card, games, PC
Reviewed on February 20, 2009By sticking a wireless network adapter in a desktop with relatively slow performance for its price range, it almost feels as if HP has phoned in the configuration of this Pavilion a6700y. We can think of few reasons to justify purchasing this PC.TAGS:HP Pavilion, Dell Inspiron, graphics chip, HP, Gateway Inc., optical drive, Dell, Wi-Fi, 64-bit, networking, Ethernet
Reviewed on May 16, 2008With so many other inexpensive photo inkjets on the market today, we can't recommend the Lexmark z2420--it's prone to paper jams, prints at a snail's pace, and produces unacceptable quality prints.TAGS:Lexmark, printer, IEEE 802.11, HP OfficeJet, photograph, networking, printing, HP
Reviewed on February 26, 2009HP's Pavilion a6750y highlights the multitasking benefits of a mainstream quad-core CPU. It's also a fairly stable base on which to build a more capable system. You can find desktops with more raw performance out there, but this one is a reliable multitasker for the dollar.TAGS:HP Pavilion, Dell Inspiron, Gateway Inc., HP, Dell, networking, PC
Reviewed on July 20, 2007The Lexmark X4550 offers what most all-in-ones in this price range don't: wireless networking. Casual home users who value network-readiness will love that feature, but users who want better print quality will be happier with a different machine.TAGS:Lexmark, Canon Pixma, wireless networking, photograph, Canon Inc., HP Photosmart, networking, printer, HP
Reviewed on November 17, 2006Although it's expensive, the Canon Pixma MP810 is a great photo-centric all-in-one for discerning photo hobbyists and home users who want both excellent print quality and fast prints. You can get a photo all-in-one for less money if you don't need the fast print speeds.TAGS:Canon Pixma, Canon Inc., print server, printer, LCD, scanner, control panel, photograph, networking, menu, server, HP
