Sony Vaio SZ
Reviewed on May 4, 2006
The Sony VAIO SZ manages to be eminently portable without sacrificing a readable screen or a usable keyboard, and it incorporates all of the features and components, and most of the connections, that business users need.

Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061
Reviewed on November 2, 2006
For less than $700, the retail-only Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061 is a perfectly acceptable basic productivity machine, but weak battery life makes it less than roadworthy.

Reviewed on November 22, 2006
The HP Compaq V6000T can be configured as anything from a budget system to a pricey multimedia powerhouse; when it's well equipped, it makes a great general-purpose laptop.

Acer TravelMate 2480-2153 (Celeron M 1.73GHz, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, Vista Home Basic)
Reviewed on April 5, 2007
It looks more expensive than it is, and its performance is in line with other budget systems (read: acceptable for basic use), but weak battery life keeps the Acer TravelMate 2480-2153 from replacing a Gateway model as our favorite low-cost laptop.

Asus W7J
Reviewed on January 4, 2007
The 13.3-inch Asus W7J could have been the PC alternative to the MacBook if poor battery life didn't kneecap this otherwise solid laptop.
