Apple Mac Mini (2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)
Reviewed on August 27, 2007
The Mac Mini remains unique as the smallest mainstream desktop, but competition from Dell and HP has narrowed the gap in features while also offering room for expansion, and at a better price. If your goal is saving space, the Mac Mini is a winner. If you'd rather get the best deal, there are better options.

Apple iMac (20-inch, 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM)
Reviewed on August 8, 2007
With its super-elegant new design and a strong configuration, Apple's new iMac competes with the PC desktop market better than perhaps any previous Mac to date. Unless you're a gamer or an upgrade enthusiast, we can think of very few reasons not to make an iMac your next desktop.

HP Pavilion Elite m9300t
Reviewed on August 18, 2008
At its heart, the HP Pavilion Elite m9300t is a fast, competitive midtower desktop with lots of flexibility in its configuration. You just have to wade through some clunky design and a few components you might not want in order to find it.

Apple Power Mac G5 dual 2.5GHz
Reviewed on November 5, 2004
Creative pros and power users will salivate over the speed and the design of Apple's top-of-the-line Power Mac G5, but we wish it offered more expansion and better support.

Apple iMac Core 2 Duo (17-inch, 1.83GHz)
Reviewed on September 14, 2006
The 17-inch iMac is missing a few features you might like--SuperDrive and a remote control, to name two--but it still makes a stellar home PC, thanks to its great design, new Core 2 Duo processor, and superior software bundle. Plus, its price makes it a borderline budget PC.
