The Samsung HT-AS730's unimpressive sound quality, finicky HDMI ports, unreadable display, and tedious input system will have you looking elsewhere for a Blu-ray-ready home theater package.

The Yamaha RX-V661 is a solid, budget AV receiver with HD switching, but it's a tough sell when competing models with next-generation HDMI 1.3 features are available for just a few dollars more.

Its picture quality won't please videophiles, but the Acoustic Research HDP100's HDMI-over-powerline system works well for casual viewers who want to save some money over in-wall installations.
