Velocity Micro Vector Campus Edition
Reviewed on July 10, 2008
As much as we like the look and feel of Velocity Micro's Vector Campus Edition desktop, we can't recommend it. It suffers from poor bang-for-the-buck, a lack of configurable options, and a narrow upgrade path.

Acer Aspire M5100
Reviewed on March 25, 2008
For performance-minded shoppers on a budget, the $700 quad-core Acer Aspire M5100 is fast enough to make you think about spending more than you might otherwise. If all you need is a capable PC with a decent hard drive, you can get away with a less expensive dual-core system.

Gateway GM5632E
Reviewed on October 31, 2007
Thanks to a strong set of core specs, the Gateway GM5632E is the best deal going on in a mainstream traditional desktop. It might be missing a few fancy, nonessential features, but it has a strong enough foundation to make up for any deficiencies.

ABS Ultimate X Striker Elite
Reviewed on April 10, 2007
We'd give ABS credit for the innovative, tinker-friendly case lighting advertised on its site, except that this model doesn't have it. For that, you need to order it with a special motherboard. That MIA feature aside, we like this gaming system for its bang-for-the-buck, tidy design, and overall robust set of features. Just get ready to spend a little.
