The Panasonic Strada CN-NVD905U is a stylish, user-friendly entrant to the in-dash navigation market. It delivers decent GPS navigation and media playback, but doesn't raise the bar in either department.

A really beautiful sedan, the 2009 Volkswagen CC VR6 Sport returns decent fuel economy and a comfortable ride, but the cutting-edge cabin tech has a few faults, and the car is pricey.

The 2007 Audi A4 handles great and is a joy to drive. Audi offers a full range of optional cabin technology, such as navigation and Bluetooth, although some of it falls a little short.

The 2009 Honda CR-V EX-L's small size and Civic-like handling make it a great choice for city dwellers who occasionally need to haul things--or people. While the cabin tech is impressive, a few more features, such as Bluetooth or iPod connectivity, would make it a home run.

Although we really liked the 2007 Mazda CX-7 during our test period, it wasn't outstanding in any particular way. It came equipped with a good stereo system and good navigation, and proved practical for getting around, and even fun to drive at times.

The innovative Eclipse AVN2210p has many attractive features, including an intuitive navigation system, a great Bluetooth calling interface, and USB connectivity for digital audio. While it has a few usability drawbacks, the system is tough to beat for its price.

With its fantastic performance, the 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet works best as a track car or a weekend cruiser on mountain roads with the top down. Its mediocre cabin electronics reduce its comfort and convenience for everyday driving.

The 2009 Mazda Mazda5 Grand Touring is an interesting choice for a budding family, primarily because there's nothing that directly compares to it on the market. Mazda will need to improve the interior quality if the Mazda5 is to really feel like a Grand Tourer.

The 2008 Toyota Highlander Limited is a well-equipped crossover with some advanced cabin technology and a smooth power train. Aside from some questionable cabin materials, the Highlander is a worthy contender in a competitive segment.

For point A to point B usefulness, a Honda is never a bad choice when the budget demands practicality. The 2008 Civic EX-L with navigation offers quite a bit for the money.

The 2007 Audi Q7 works well from a luxury perspective, although its cabin tech isn't exactly cutting edge. Although features such as quattro and the adaptive air suspension indicate off-road aspirations, people who can afford this car are likely to stay on the pavement.

If you can figure out the bizarre interface for the electronics in the 2010 Volvo XC60, it can be a pretty satisfying car to drive, but you will end up paying for it at the pump.
