We were very impressed with the 2008 Land Rover LR2, which combines solid cabin gadgetry with a luxury interior. And all this comfort rides on Land Rover's legendary off-road platform. At its price, it's a great value.

With its superior handling and power, the Porsche Boxster S begs to be driven hard. A full array of cabin electronics is available for navigation, music, and cell phones, but this package could benefit from an in-dash CD changer.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT is a distinctively styled convertible with a sparse but comfortable cabin. Despite its powerful V-6 and sports-car profile, it's happier changing lanes on the freeway than racing off the lights.

Not the most practical car, the 2006 Volvo C70 looks very stylish with the top down or up, and its audio system is among the best we've heard. The navigation system isn't a very worthwhile option, since it usually can't be seen because of glare, and this car is not for the driving enthusiast.

The 2006 Mercury Milan is about as average as they come, with features sometimes matching but never outstripping the competition. While pleasant enough to behold, the Milan really doesn't offer much to desire.
