Reviewed on April 14, 2010 We like the looks of Asus' Eee Box EB1501, but it's pricier than Blu-ray players that stream content from the Web, and not as powerful as slightly more expensive slim tower PCs that offer significantly more speed and power. Asus made a decent attempt at the Nettop-as-set-top-box replacement with this system, but it's crowded out by too many alternatives. Reviewed on July 26, 2010 Its newly designed tower, HDMI port, and generous hard-drive capacity aren't enough to make the Asus Essentio CM5671-05 stand out next to the HP Pavilion p6510y, a similarly priced system with a faster quad-core processor and built-in Wi-Fi. The Asus system is no slouch, and we recommend it to shoppers who are concerned with storage capacity rather than speed, but even amateur media editors will benefit from the HP p6510y's extra speed. Reviewed on November 15, 2010 As an alternative to Intel's built-in Wireless Display, the Asus WiCast is both easy to use and works on nearly any laptop--but it's also cumbersome and includes some DRM limitations.
