The Harman/Kardon Go + Play is one of the best-sounding portable iPod speaker systems you can buy, but its high price and lack of compatibility with recent iPod models make it a limited recommendation.

The JBL On Time 400iHD iPod speaker is a solid option if you are interested in HD radio and multiple alarm clock options, but the buttons may annoy you.

The Harman Kardon Drive + Play 2 is a stylish and functional aid for playing digital music in the car. Its iPod compatibility and dynamic channel creation function really separate it from the pack, although you pay for what you get.

Harman Kardon's Drive + Play does a nice job of integrating your iPod with your car audio system, but we suggest having it installed professionally to get the best possible sound.

The JBL On Stage II's new wireless remote makes these attractive iPod speakers even easier to use, but we're still disappointed by its bulky AC adapter and its lightweight bass response.

The extra push from the John Cooper Works kit doesn't seem enough to justify the premium it adds to the price of the 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible. We would have been happy to shave the kit and some other options off and just enjoy driving with the convertible top down, which is already part of the base price.
