Rockstar DJs may sneer at the Numark iDJ2's simplicity and iPod novelty, but work-a-day event DJs will appreciate the system's efficiency, keyboard search, sound quality, and portability.

The attractively priced Archos 404 is a PVP in an MP3 player's body. If you want a better screen and a removable battery, spend $50 more for the wider 604.

If you've got $130 and want a system that plays MP3s from a range of sources, the CDX-GT420U is a good bet. If you're looking for something visually or acoustically refined, look higher up on Sony's model lineup.

The Belkin TuneCommand AV offers nearly identical features to Apple's iPod AV connection kit but costs $30 less, making it a better bargain for people who watch a lot of iPod video on their TVs.
