The 2006 Acura TL is the measure of its class rivals in terms of features and value, but it's somewhat uninspiring in looks and performance.

The 2006 Acura TSX is a well-balanced, well-appointed car. Its four-cylinder engine is surprisingly stout, and cabin electronics are in line with Acura's high-tech focus, although the carmaker could do with outsourcing its audio systems.

The 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD tries to strike a balance between comfortable commuter car and weekend sport driver, but leans towards the former. Cutting edge cabin tech increases the comfort level and gives it a practical edge.

We would have been thrilled with this car two years ago, but the competition has caught up, and in some cases surpassed Acura. A lot of the tech comes straight from the 2005 Acura RL model with little improvement in the interceding two years.

Our criticisms of the 2006 Acura RL are minor compared to all it has to offer. It's marketed as a high-tech car and delivers on all fronts, from live traffic on its navigation screen to cutting-edge driving technology.

The 2010 Honda Pilot provides room and entertainment for many passengers, but its cabin tech isn't of the highest caliber and innovative engine technologies don't deliver on their promise of increased fuel economy.

The 2007 Acura TL Type-S has all the ingredients to combine techno luxury with performance driving for a very attractive sub-$40K luxury sports sedan. Its cabin gadgetry is nearly flawless, but the five-speed automatic mated to the drive-by-wire throttle detracts from the sports car experience.

Still among the best all-around seven-passenger luxury SUVs, the 2008 Acura MDX never disappoints (except perhaps in its looks), but is due for some cabin tech updates and a little more power to match its handling.

The 2007 Acura RDX is a good value, with practical interior space and very good drivability. Techies will delight in its cabin systems, but luddites will be overwhelmed by the many buttons and voice commands.

You won't notice the 2007 Acura RL's shortcomings if you don't push it hard, and its cabin gadgets are very easy to use. If it weren't for the mediocre fuel economy, the RL would be a very good high-tech commute car.
