Xbox's Adam Orth leaves Microsoft

In the wake of Adam Orth's remarks that gamers should just "deal with" always online, the creative director is no longer working at Microsoft, and his Twitter account has been switched to private.

According to Game Informer, Microsoft Studios creative director Adam Orth is no longer with the company. An anonymous source told the website that Orth had resigned in the wake of the storm that followed his tweets last week.

Orth had Tweeted that he did not understand the drama about requiring a device to be always online in order to function, accompanied with the hashtag #dealwithit. When queried by fans, he elaborated that people without internet connection should just get one, and that if they can't do that, then not to get the device.

Orth later apologised, claiming that he was just joking around, which was followed by an official apology from Microsoft:

We apologise for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however, we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap and have no further comment on this matter.

Game Informer's source said that Orth's resignation was directly related to the debacle; the website placed a call to the Microsoft front desk, and confirmed that Orth is no longer an employee.

Orth has also darkened his Twitter account and only confirmed followers can access his tweets now.
