Xbox One rumors abound: March update, white console, and more
Word has it that an update for Xbox One could be coming in weeks, the purported white version of the device is on the horizon, and there might be a version of the console without a Blu-ray drive.
The Xbox One rumor mill is on overdrive. Word has it that the console could come in white, might get an update in March, will arrive in more markets, and could soon be available without a Blu-ray drive.
These speculations come via a report from The Verge, which has been checking out online forums and talking to inside sources. Chief among the rumors is a possible major update to Xbox One's dashboard. Apparently, Microsoft is working to fix various issues with the console's Live service. This update release could come as soon as March.
The Verge has also been working to prove the rumor that a white version of the Xbox One is in the works. Apparently, Microsoft employees working on the Xbox team will be the first to get this purported console. According to The Verge, this white Xbox One could make its way to store shelves for all customers in October.
Besides those two major rumors, a few other speculations include Xbox One coming to several new markets in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America, along with the possibility of a version of the console without a Blu-ray drive.
Microsoft announced earlier this month that consumers bought more than 3 million Xbox One consoles after its November launch. While sales were initially sky-high, they appeared to slow after the first few weeks.
The Xbox One has frustrated early adopters with a range of issues, including faulty disc drives, updates that fail to install, and must-have features that are missing. If the above rumors pan out, it would mean that Microsoft might be listening to users' gripes over the console.
