Sky Anytime comes to Virgin Media
On-demand Sky programming is coming to Virgin Media in an unlikely, and possibly unholy, alliance.
Sky Anytime is heading to Virgin Media, flooding Virgin's on-demand service with tonnes of new TV shows at no additional cost to Virgin Media customers.
Like the love between Kermit and Miss Piggy, a deal between Sky and Virgin Media might seem frightening and wrong at first. But it will soon have you feeling all warm and fuzzy, because it means Virgin Media's on-demand service swells to 6,500 hours of TV and movies.
If you're a Virgin Media customer, this means you're about to have anytime access to shows such as Glee and Steven Spielberg's Terra Nova, as well as programmes from Sky1, Sky Living, Sky Arts and Sky News.
By now you should be soiling yourself with anticipation. More bowel-burbling news is that some of that Sky stuff will be leaking across to the Virgin Media Player in the next few weeks. Virgin Media Player is a streaming service for watching Virgin shows on your computer or mobile phone.
Last month Virgin Media released its TiVo iPad app, which lets you control your TiVo set-top box from your tablet, and earlier in the year we reported that Virgin Media had also teamed up with Spotify, to offer streaming tunes on your talking-picture box.
