Syntax gains TV market share

Relative newcomer to LCD TV market is behind Sharp and Panasonic in terms of shipments to retailers, according to research firm iSuppli.

Syntax Groups, a relative newcomer to the LCD TV market, has quickly moved into a top position in its battle with established manufacturers. The maker of Olevia LCD sets is behind Sharp and Panasonic in terms of shipments to retailers, according to research firm iSuppli. Sharp was comfortably in the top spot with 21.1 percent of the U.S. market in the fourth quarter of 2004, followed by Panasonic with 7.95 percent and Syntax with 7.15. Syntax displaced Sony Electronics.

IDC also ranked Syntax No. 3 in market share in the fourth quarter in the United States.
