Star Wars, Angry Birds mash-up? Yes, please

Could an event next week in NYC mean we're getting a "Star Wars" version of Angry Birds? We sure hope so!

Rovio teases an Angry Birds/Star Wars event in NYC. Ravio
A mash-up between "Star Wars" and Angry Birds may be coming soon.

Rovio, owner of the popular Angry Birds franchise, today updated its Tumblr blog with an animated image of a something -- presumably a very Angry Bird -- wearing a Jedi robe and holding a lightsaber.

The post says the company will have "behind-the-scenes content, animations, comics, and much, much more" on the page over the next few weeks.

Rovio didn't provide many details, besides hinting at something happening in New York's Times Square at 10 a.m. ET on October 8. The post advises people to head to the Toys "R" Us store in the area at 8 a.m. ET.

We don't know what this is about, but CNET, for one, sure hopes it's a "Star Wars" version of Angry Birds. It's also plausible, considering that the event is taking place in/near Toys "R" Us, that we could see some plush toys or other items cross-branding the franchises.

We reached out to Rovio and will update when we hear back.
