Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL pop up on Web site ahead of CES
The pair of Android smartphones are expected to be included in Sony's CES press announcement.
Sony's Xperia Z and Xperia ZL have been found hiding on Sony's Web site, hinting at things to come for next week's CES show.
Known in other circles as the Yuga and Odin, these two Sony devices have been tied to numerous rumors over the last few months.
The Sony Xperia Z (Yuga) is the larger of the two smartphones however, the Xperia ZL may possess similar internal hardware specifications. Reportedly, the Xperia Z will possess a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, a 5-inch 1080p HD display, 2GB RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera.
Both are expected to offer a front-facing camera, but the Xperia ZL render shows its lens on the bottom right side instead. Yes, below the display. One area where the two may differ is that the Xperia Z is rumored to be a premium experience with a chassis that resists to water and dust.
It is not quite clear where these two models will end up or if we'll see one of them tied to a U.S. carrier. If I were to wager a guess, the Xperia ZL seems like a logical fit for AT&T. Readers may recall a similar strategy for the Xperia T and Xperia TL with the latter arriving as a Ma Bell exclusive.
CNET will attend CES next week and will have early hands-on impressions for whatever Sony's cooking up.
