Short Take: Corvis to supply Williams with optical equipment
High-end networking start-up Corvis struck a deal today to supply Williams Communications with up to $200 million in optical communications equipment. Corvis makes equipment that can send information over long-distance fiber-optic lines without the need for that transmission to be regenerated electronically, therefore speeding the data to its destination. Williams is currently in trials with Corvis's technology.
