Seinfeld Web series comes to Crackle's mobile app
Offering a small selection of TV shows and movies for free, Crackle now lets you watch Jerry Seinfeld's new Web-based series on your mobile device.
iPhone, iPad, and Android users looking for the new Seinfeld Web series "Comedians in Getting Coffee" can now watch it in their car via Crackle's latest mobile app.
Crackle is a free app for iOS and Android that offers a tiny selection of movies and TV shows. We're not talking Netflix or Amazon here, but there are some interesting choices.
Its movie selection includes Monty Python's "And Now for Something Completely Different," "The Fifth Element," "Groundhog Day," and the unforgettable "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies." Its TV fare offers some blasts from the past, such as "All in the Family," "Barney Miller," "I Dream of Jeannie," and "Seinfeld."
The latest version of Crackle is sticking with the Seinfeld theme by offering the comedian's new Web-based series called "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee." The series features Jerry chatting with fellow comics and actors such as Larry David and Alec Baldwin as they drive along the road in search of some java.
Since the series is available on the Web, you can already watch it on your desktop browser or your mobile browser. The show displays fine in mobile Safari, though I ran into trouble trying to watch it in Chrome on my Nexus 7 tablet.
But the series now has a home at Crackle, which hooks you up with the latest episode as well as previous shows from the first season. Watching Jerry via Crackle on my iPhone, iPad, and Nexus tablet offered no hiccups.
And even if you're not a Seinfeld fan, you may still want to pick up Crackle's latest mobile update. A few new movies have been added, including "SWAT," "Mr. Deeds," and "The Fan." The interface is a bit more friendly, so it's easier to find specific movies and shows. You can also pipe items from Crackle to your TV via Airplay or HDMI.
Signing up for a free account with Crackle grants you a customized watchlist, info about new movies and shows, and the ability to share your favorites with your friends.
Crackle is also a Web site with the same selections and options, so you can check it out on your computer or other Web-enabled devices. You may have trouble tracking down your favorite movies and TV shows. But since Crackle is free, it's worth a spin.
