The Samsung Galaxy S5 may be among five smartphones announced in the first quarter of 2014, reports ETNews (translated). While this is but one report, and from a not-always accurate source, the rumor dovetails with recent rumblings.

The last few weeks have given way to plenty of leaks and whispers about the Galaxy S5. Details such as the design of the case and display technology have been in the mix for quite some time.

But, with new information coming in almost daily, it feels as if the device is almost ready for takeoff.

A variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 might also be among one of the five rumored devices; a lower-cost version of the plus-sized smartphone could debut at Mobile World Congress in February.

This week saw new chatter suggesting a Galaxy Note 3 Lite will employ a step-down display and camera specifications.

One other device that may be coming soon is the Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite. This phone is allegedly a cross between the Galaxy Grand and the Grand 2, and could occupy the middle ground in Samsung's lineup.

It's worth remembering that not every device announced by Samsung gets the global treatment. Some smartphones, like those in the Galaxy Grand family, are often aimed at specific markets and carriers.
