The time might finally be right for smartphones with 4GB of RAM. That is, of course, if the latest rumors surround the ZTE Grand S II prove accurate.

According to details picked up by GforGames, the forthcoming ZTE handset could be among the first on the market with an unprecedented 4GB of memory.

We got our first glimpses of the Grand S II when it was shown off at CES in January. At that time, ZTE said the Android 4.3-powered phone would pack 2GB of RAM, not 4GB or even 3GB like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 .

Keep in mind that 2GB is par for the course for the upper end of smartphones, the same RAM allowance that the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 get, too.

It's possible that this newly-discovered version ends up as an exclusive variant for a specific market, perhaps China-only.

Assuming nothing else changes, the smartphone will include a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. ZTE still hasn't announced pricing or availability.
