Path headed to BlackBerry in 2014? Perhaps not
Seems there's been a bit of a misunderstanding on whether the private social network plans to bring its app to Blackberry next year.
Path, the private, mobile social network for friends and family members, has its eye on BlackBerry, but apparently no decisions have been made just yet.
Speaking to a news outlet in Indonesia this week, Path CEO Dave Morin seems to have said that his company would be bringing its application to BlackBerry in 2014, according to Crackberry. He didn't specify whether the application would be available on BlackBerry 10, said the report, but considering there are no known plans for an update to BlackBerry's operating system anytime soon, it appeared likely BlackBerry 10 would get the nod from Path.
But tamp down your excitement, Path fans. The company later clarified that Morin had been unprepared for the BlackBerry question from the Indonesian news outlet. A representative for the social network told Daily Social that Path has "no plans to develop for BlackBerry at this time."
We've also heard directly from the Hatch Agency, representing Path, along those same lines: Morin has some interest in bringing Path to the BlackBerry and might think about it next year, but for now, not so much.
BlackBerry's sales troubles have prompted some developers to ignore the platform. That Path will be coming to the operating system, however, could be a nice boost for BlackBerry. The 3-year-old social network, which has 20 million registered users, already has a strong presence on iOS and Android.
