Nokia intros trio of affordable messaging phones
Nokia announces the upcoming availability of the Nokia C3, C6, and E5, three new messaging smartphones at an affordable price.
Messaging and social networking are the focus of Nokia's latest smartphones, and the company's hoping the affordable price tag attached to them will draw in the masses. Ranging from $120 to $300 unlocked, the Nokia C3, C6, and E5 are certainly some of the cheaper devices we've seen from the company, and they don't skimp too much on the features. Let's get acquainted with each model, shall we?
Nokia C3: The C3 represents a couple of firsts for Nokia's Series 40 devices. It's the first to feature a full QWERTY keyboard, and it's the first to offer direct access to social-networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, right from the home screen, so you can keep on top of all your friends' latest updates. In addition, you can stay in touch with the preloaded Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat clients.
The device also features a 2-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, and a 2.4-inch display. The C3 is expected to ship in Q2 for 90 euros ($122 U.S.) before taxes and subsidies and will be available in golden white, slate gray, hot pink.
Nokia C6: The Symbian-based C6 steps it up a notch with a 3.2-inch resistive touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The full suite of social networking and e-mail capabilities are represented, as are the Ovi Store and Ovi Maps for free turn-by-turn, voice-guided navigation. You also get a 5-megapixel camera with flash and autofocus. The C6 is also scheduled to be released in Q2 for 220 euros ($298 U.S.).
