The successor to the Motorola Moto X should arrive in either August or September, or so says TK Tech News Blog. According to a source close to the blog, the so-called Moto X+1 might show up in the weeks leading up to the introduction of the next-gen iPhone.

Dovetailing with previous rumors, the smartphone is reported as having a a 1080p AMOLED display and up to 64GB internal storage. Additionally, the handset should pack 2GB RAM and a microSD expansion card slot. It's worth noting, however, that a separate post from the same blog indicates that the 16GB and 32GB versions may not have the option for removable storage.

In terms of cameras, the X+1 could feature an "updated" shooter, though it's unclear what that really means. Allegedly there are two cameras being considered for the smartphone and the launch date hinges on which one gets the green light.

A number of photos provided by the site show the familiar design language used in other recent Motorola devices. Suffice it to say, the general feeling here is a slightly bigger and better take on the Moto X.

I, for one, will be interested to see how Motorola positions the X+1 this summer. A new iPhone should arrive around the same time; other companies are reportedly working on their own flagship refreshes, too.
