Entry-level Samsung Galaxy J rumored to debut
A listing on a Russian website suggests that Samsung could officially announce its new low-end phone.
Samsung is slated to introduce a new, wallet-friendly Galaxy J7 smartphone in the near future, according to a listing on a Russian retailer's website.
First reported on by SamMobile, the Galaxy J7 allegedly runs Android 5.0 on entry-level hardware. One example? Its large 5.5-inch screen with a relatively low (read: affordable) 720p HD display.
Internally, the smartphone could make use of a 1.2GHz octa-core Marvell processor with 1.5GB RAM. Storage is pegged at 16GB with an optional microSD expansion slot.
In terms of cameras, the Galaxy J7 may include a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.
As to the overall design and materials of the handset, well, that's still a little muddy. Although there are photos of phone shown on the Russian site, they look to be the same as a previously rumored Galaxy J1.
Samsung was not immediately available for comment.
Assuming it's the real deal, the Samsung Galaxy J7 would employ a familiar plastic material and rounded shape that we've seen in other Samsung phones.
Given the entry-level nature of this one, I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung launched this one quietly to a select few markets.
