Metallica now available on iTunes
Longtime antipiracy advocate Metallica has made available its tracks on the world's most popular online music store. Yesterday, the iTunes Music Store began selling four of the band's albums, including some previously unreleased live material, and consumers can purchase individual tracks (one customer review: "Finally, the day has come!"). Until today, Metallica's work was available only as an entire album on some services, including MSN Music. One of Apple's key philosophies on iTunes is that you can cherry-pick most tracks without having to purchase the entire album.
The tracks will be available only in the United States and Canada for now. The Reuters article mentions that other big-name bands yet to sign on with iTunes are the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Garth Brooks.
