EchoStar customers top 6 million

EchoStar Communications, the No. 2 U.S. satellite television provider, has exceeded 6 million customers for its DISH Network service. The Littleton, Colo.-based company added about 460,000 customers during the first quarter and 1 million customers in the past seven months. EchoStar competes against DirecTV, another satellite TV offering, and the major cable TV operators.
