Free the Russian Adobe has reversed its position on the status of the Russian programmer who was arrested for an alleged violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright act. From Wired: "This high-visibility prosecution under the DMCA seems to have focused the kind of anger not seen since the days of the 1996 Communications Decency Act or the Secret Service raid of Steve Jackson Games -- two defining moments in the development of civil liberties online." Love Bug, SirCam Neck and Neck virus threats Another email-distributed Windows-based virus is making the rounds. We do not believe that it affects Macs, except to that the Mac can act as in intermediate carrier if someone forwards the message. From Wired: "SirCam arrives with a virus-infected attachment and a random document culled from an infected machine. If the recipient clicks on the attachment, his or her machine is infected with SirCam." More.
