We can still get surprised at what generates email here at MacFixIt. The topic that dominated yesterday's email were replies to our item on how best to remove sticky adhesive from an iMac's case. Here are the< various suggestions (again, we assume no liability if they do not work for you!): "The very best solution I have ever found to removing sticky adhesive from literally anything is Liquid Wrench. This stuff is amazing. For stubborn gunk, apply & let it sit for 10 minutes before rubbing with a clean cloth doused with more Liquid Wrench. Soak labels, price stickers & let 'em sit. They lift right off minutes later. I guarantee you'll be impressed." [George Costello] "Goo Gone will remove the residue perfectly with no damage to the case." [Aaron Dowler and Gary Zuercher] "The safest way to remove glue residue left from stickers is to use vegetable oil (the same stuff you use for cooking). Just let it sit on the glue for a while and most glues will simply rub off. The oil is then pretty easy to get rid of." [Juri Munkki] Jeff Baudin agrees: "This is one home remedy that really works." Steve Clark suggests trying a spray cooking oil, such as PAM. Peter Richard similarly suggests mineral oil followed by liquid soap on a damp cloth to clean the oil off. "Here's a trick that I've used for years with all kinds of left-behind adhesive. Simply use a portion of the removed label to lift the left-behind residue. With a blotting like motion, use the adhesive on the piece in your hand to pull off the adhesive left behind." [Steve Witt] Other readers suggested lighter fluid, WD-40 and another product called "De-Solv-It."
