Apple Pro Application Support 4.0 (#5): One more application launch fix
Apple Pro Application Support 4.0 (#5): One more application launch fix
As previously reported, a number of users are experiencing problems launching applications affected by the Pro Application Support 4.0, after applying said update.
FIxes we've already mentioned include excluding pro applications from APE, as well as deletion of specific cache, plist and application support files.
We've now received a note indicating that the tried and true method of re-applying the most recent Mac OS X combo updater (in this case, Mac OS X 10.4.9, available from the Apple downloads page) resolves launch issues for some.
MacFixIt reader Stefan writes:
"It was impossible to launch Final Cut Pro after installation of Pro Application Support 4.0. Tried everything, even deleting all QT-PlugIns. Final Cut Pro only launches in Rosetta and is very slow.
"However, after reinstalling the Mac OS X 10.4.9 combo updater, Final Cut Pro (and the others) launched again in Universal mode."
