Apple CFO says goal is to raise market share Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Technology Symposium, Apple CFO Fred Anderson said a "good intermediate" goal would be for his company to reach 5% marketshare from 3% today. He also said Apple's target is to get to $8 billion of annual revenue. Apple had revenue of about $5.7 billion in 2002. "Users of Macintosh machines from Apple also are 'going to see more and more software coming out of Apple,' Mr. Anderson said, according to a Dow Jones Newswires report. More.

Wi-Fi alliance plans 802.11g testing 802.11 Planet reports that the Wi-Fi Alliance will soon begin more testing of the 802.11g standard, which is employed by Apple's AirPort Extreme. There will be specific mandatory requirements for a product to get a Wi-Fi seal for its packaging including: backwards compatibility with 802.11b products; simultaneous 11b and 11g client operation; and support for the full 54 Megabit per second (Mbps) data rate (only 24Mbps is required by the specification). Wired News on the G4 noise problem Wired has posted an article providing an overview of the widely reported G4 noise problem, and interviewing the creator of G4Noise.com: "For the last five months, San Francisco filmmaker Richard Hoefer has devoted most of his waking life to pressuring Apple to fix his noisy Power Mac. Hoefer is one of many unfortunate PowerMac G4 owners whose machines are so loud they're commonly referred to as wind tunnels. The high-end PowerMac, released last year, has also been unfavorably compared to a leaf blower, hair dryer and vacuum cleaner." More.
