Advice on cleaning inkjet nozzles on Epson printers

Arel Weisberg writes: "After repeated clogging of the inkjets on my Epson 600, I called tech support and was told that turning off the printer via a power strip can cause clogging. Apparently, when shutting off the printer via the button on the front panel, the printer does some kind of check to see if some cleaning is necessary. Using a power strip obviously bypasses this check, and can leave the inkjets clogged.

Also, although the Epson web site suggests using the software utility for the most intense nozzle cleaning, the tech support person insisted that the cleaning button on the front panel does a more forceful cleaning. In my case, the cleaning button worked after following the series of cleanings and testings suggested to me over the phone."
