Apple: 170 million iPads sold

Apple CEO Tim Cook boasted some big numbers for the iPad to set the stage Tuesday for the company's latest iPad devices, including the iPad Air and new iPad mini.

Here are the numbers Cook touted:

• 170 million iPads sold. Cook said Apple sold its 170 millionth iPad this month.

• 475,000 iPad apps on the App Store.

• iPad usage makes up 81 percent of all tablet usage. That's four times more than other devices, Cook said.
