HP Compaq Presario CQ62

Sluggish performance is usually the deal breaker for an entry-level laptop, and though the single-core Compaq Presario CQ62-215DX is far from a speed merchant, its biggest flaw isn't a lack of power but rather the finger power it requires to depress the stiff mouse button.

HP Compaq Presario CQ5320Y

The spare, affordable Compaq Presario CQ5320Y midtower desktop can hold its own in a light-duty multitasking environment, but that's really its only strength. We'd recommend saving up a few more dollars, which will net you a PC with far better features and performance.

HP Compaq Presario SR5610f

The HP Compaq Presario SR5610f stirs together a mix of mediocre parts in a cookie-cutter chassis, brewing up an altogether yawn-worthy computer. The price tag falls in line with other budget systems that feature similar components, but we recommend spending $50 more on the Acer x3200, a well designed compact PC that can carry more weight across a wider variety of applications.

HP Compaq Presario SR5050NX

HP's new Compaq Presario SR5050NX squeaks by its direct eMachines competition, but both of those systems fall behind to HP's own SlimLine desktops in terms of features and performance. If you're looking for a basic desktop with expandability, though, we give this system the nod.
