Samsung Series 7 700A3D - Core i5 3470T 2.9 GHz - 6 GB - 1 TB - LED 23.6"

The Samsung Series 7 isn't the fastest, or the most fully featured midrange all-in-one, but casual PC users should consider it for its affordability and overall polish.

Samsung Series 5 UltraTouch

Samsung's midprice Series 5 UltraTouch looks and feels like a more expensive machine, but keeps it simple by skipping the complex hybrid mechanics of so many new Windows 8 systems.

Samsung Series 5 Ultra (13-inch) NP530U3B - 128GB SSD

Samsung's finally made an affordable ultrabook, and the 13-inch Series 5 Ultra is a well-priced and far slimmer product than its 14-inch cousin. Still, it's not a runaway bargain, and it feels like corners have been cut in adapting it from the stellar Series 9's design. You also might want to wait a few weeks for Intel's latest processors to arrive.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 (T-Mobile)

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 should satisfy BlackBerry fans with its responsive touch screen and overall specs, but for $50 more, T-Mobile customers could get the much better Bold 9900 instead.

Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 - Core i5 2410M 2.3GHz - 15.6-inch TFT - with Nvidia 3D Vision Kit

The 3D-enabled Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 is one of the more affordable 3D-enabled laptops, but it lacks the horsepower we've seen in more-robust 3D gaming laptops.

Samsung Series 3 305V5A-A02 - 15.6" - A series A6-3410MX - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - 4 GB RAM - 640 GB HDD

Samsung's sharp designs translate well to this more affordable new line, although the Series 3 is still at the high end of the ultraportable price range.

Samsung Series 5 Chromebook XE500C21 - 12.1" - Atom N570 - Chrome OS - 2 GB RAM - 16 GB SSD

Despite solid hardware, great battery life, and fast startup, we can't recommend the Samsung Chromebook Series 5 until and unless Google improves the Chrome OS.

Samsung Series 9 900X3A-A02 - 13.3" - Core i5 2537M - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit - 4 GB RAM - 128 GB SSD

The $1,649 Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A certainly won't be for every wallet, but this light, well-featured, and striking 13-incher is the closest the Windows world will ever come to a MacBook Air. However, its higher-than-the-Air price will be hard to stomach.

Apple iMac fall 2009 (Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06Hz, Nvidia GeForce 9400M, 21.5 in)

Despite its good looks and a few useful new features, Apple's new iMac is all about business. You can find a larger screen for less, not to mention all kinds of digital entertainment features, but no other all-in-one at this price can boast similar performance. If you need a modestly priced all-in-one for getting work done, we'd recommend no other system.
