Listen.com flips on CD burning

Music service provider Listen.com on Thursday released its updated version of its digital music subscription service that allows people to burn CDs and listen to a new Net radio service. As expected, Rhapsody 1.5 lets subscribers with CD burners put tunes onto CDs through its "Naxos Classical with Burning" catalog. Subscribers, who would pay $9.95 per month, can burn up to 10 tracks each month from the catalog, which contains more than 2,200 titles and more than 10,000 musical works. Listen.com also unveiled a premium online radio service, dubbed Radio Plus. The service, which offers commercial-free music from some 58 stations, lets listeners skip songs they don't want to hear. Listen.com said Radio Plus is available as a stand-alone service for $4.95 per month or included with a subscription to any of Rhapsody's services. Rhapsody 1.5 also includes a redesigned player.

Listen.com to play in stereos

Online music company Listen.com has signed marketing deals with four consumer electronics companies to offer online music through home stereos and wireless devices. Listen.com said the agreements cover several products from Jensen/Recoton, Stereo-link, Terk Technologies and U.S. Robotics. The company said subscribers to its digital music service, dubbed Rhapsody, will be able to build playlists from its more than 120,000 tracks or choose one of its online radio stations and transmit the tunes to a home stereo. Listen.com has licensed music from four of the Big Five record labels: Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, BMG Entertainment and EMI Recorded Music. Last week, Listen.com said it plans to let some songs on its digital music service be copied onto CDs. Each month, subscribers to its Rhapsody service will be able to burn onto CDs a limited number of tracks from classical music label Naxos of America.
