THQ announces stock split

Games publisher THQ announced a 3-for-2 stock split Friday. Southern California-based THQ said in a statement that it will pay shareholders of record as of March 26 a stock dividend equivalent to one extra share of stock for every two shares held. The dividend is expected to be payable on or around April 9.

EchoStar Communications, the nation's second-largest direct satellite broadcaster, has set a 2-for-1 stock split, its second this year. Effective for shareholders of record October 18, the shares are expected to split on the Nasdaq stock market October 26. Previously the company, which claims more than 3 million subscribers, split its stock in May.

Short Take: Oracle plans 3-for-2 split

Database giant Oracle announced a three-for-two stock split of its outstanding shares of common stock. The news comes on the heels of two-for-one splits by Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems, and Intel. The split will be paid on February 26 to shareholders of record on February 10. Oracle currently has approximately 9.58 million shares of common stock outstanding.
