Short Take: Ad agency drops Netpliance

Netpliance has lost its ad agency, BBDO New York, which resigned the account, according to Adweek Online. Netpliance's ad spending turned out to be "significantly less than half" of what the agency had expected, BBDO said in the Adweek report. The account had been estimated at $10 million to $15 million.

Short Take: Comet Cursor users hit 10 million

Comet Systems said that its plug-in, which changes users' cursors into animated or still graphics on sites that implement the technology, has been downloaded by 10 million unique users. The company said it is the fourth most commonly accessed Web tools site, after RealNetworks, ICQ, and Macromedia, citing Adweek and Media Metrix reports.
