Short Take: AOL updates Communicator

Netscape Communications, a division of America Online, has released Communicator 4.76, a "maintenance" upgrade of its Web browser. New to the version are third-party components including AOL Instant Messenger 4.0, WinAmp 2.6 and RealPlayer 8 for the Windows operating system; RealPlayer 5 and StuffIt Expander 5.5 for the Macintosh; and Macromedia's Flash Player and the Beatnik Player 2.0 for multiple platforms. The release also includes an add-on for Netscape's Mission Control Desktop 4.5, which helps large organizations manage Communicator remotely. Separately, Netscape is preparing version 6.0 in a test, or "beta," version.
