Short Take: Cognos updates OLAP tools

Cognos is updating its online analytical processing tools. The company has released PowerPlay Server Web Edition 6.0, a new version of its multidimensional analysis server, and Impromptu Web Query version 2.11, a revamped version of its Web browser-based analysis tool. PowerPlay server is shipping now, priced from $225 per user, based on 1,000 users, on HP-UX, Solaris, AIX, and Windows NT. Impromptu Web Query also costs $225 per user, and will be available later this month.
