U.S. retail sales of digital cameras and digital video camcorders showed a solid increase for the first quarter of 2002, according to a report released Thursday by research firm NPDTechworld. A total of 1.23 million still cameras and 215,000 camcorders were sold during the period, compared with 958,000 and 202,000 in the same period a year ago. NPD attributed the growth partly to falling prices.
