2013 Lexus GS450h
Over the past ten years Lexus has been hard at work trying to shed the Grandpa's color image trading and soft luxury -- premium sports.
With the 2013 G yes Lexus -- a new high performance handling and cabin technology.
Throw in a hybrid power train -- have one of the best techies stands around.
This is the 2013 Lexus GS -- fifty age.
And an open in the room that -- the Lexus is.
-- experience while point three inch LCD. Most of the time the screen -- -- -- it shows a Mac a map or whatever the main function is on the left side.
The right side you get this.
Small drug -- screen which as you may be the music that's -- right now ports as an energy monitor your trip information.
And control stuff on the screen with this little controller right here which.
I think it should have a more solid fuel given that this is -- pretty high end car and also it's sometimes hard to.
Hit the buttons on the screen and really.
Hit the mark you want it but another way to control -- and voice command and this car has excellent ways to -- -- -- at that but on the steering wheel.
-- could be changed to -- menu -- play artist Fleetwood Mac.
-- Mac.
But we also have the Lexus and -- system here but that's very similar to -- -- -- and tune system.
So what that is that's that's Lexus is app integration strategy. -- -- app is running on my iPhone.
And that's that -- to the current award Bluetooth paired it'll also work -- it's -- into the car.
So I've got -- -- screen launch here I -- apps like pandora.
Open table Yelp -- -- about being searched.
And the cool thing about being -- that I also can do voice search with that I can actually use the the voice command button on the street will I have to go to this little.
Microphone icon on the screen.
Hamburger.
And I've analyst for the results that the hamburger result the controller here.
And so I've got in in and out --
If the result -- that I get an icon for the map like this program that right in as and --
Also on this console we've got the dial here below the ship after.
But the current -- different dead drive modes we've got -- to the left this'll be -- gas pedal and just you know frustrate the heck out of you when one actually going.
Intranet to the right and get in this sport mode.
This -- the transmission -- keep the revs up -- and keep power.
Up all the time -- you can turn it once more to the right and get the sport plus mode.
-- sport plus actually retains that data transmission profile.
And it also changes the suspension and actually dials and a more rigid suspension.
Over the hybrid system -- isn't nearly as they start out with a 3.5 liter -- says it's got direct injection and port injection.
Which is a little weird.
The reason why they do that is port injection is quieter and -- uses port injection image and is running at slower speed.
Because the direct injection which is lot more efficient when it's running -- higher -- its.
Along with -- engine they add this hybrid system and the system all combine produces three and 38 horsepower.
At the bit more than the V6 a little less than the -- but the real win here is you've got thirty miles per gallon average that's what we've been getting.
Anna I think EPA members -- like 29 city 34 highway thirty is ready.
Thirtieth like ten miles per gallon better than you'd get with the V6 and probably a couple more than you get with the V8.
This is a great engine -- -- lot of power that three and thirty horsepower will actually.
-- bring it to sixty miles per hour in five point six seconds according --
So it's fast and -- gets great fuel economy I mean what more could you want.
And --
A.
The -- hybrid.
Lexus GS -- war that TH we'll -- -- -- engine when -- -- adult life.
Development -- -- -- looking forward and move forward under electric power and well under the stars it's it's really too heavy to stay in EV mode for a long time.
If you -- -- get out of people's away from behind you really need to push that accelerator and a which will kick the engine.
Yeah there's really no getting around that.
But but I also find is that.
You get moving. And with the engine's going and then just hazard kind of a cruising speed -- -- on the accelerator really quick.
Adult and usually -- -- cut off but yours be like under 35 miles per hour and then you can get you.
A -- of rough road right now and I can feel.
The a fairly rigid suspension and this is change Lexus is made from the old days of old sort of -- -- cars with -- suspensions.
They made the switch more rigid to help handling.
And instead you know maybe a little more bombs but it panels -- pretty confident.
When you up but it and sport plus plus mode and actually tightens -- that suspension.
And that makes handle actually surprisingly well and the hybrid power train actually gives little a lot more power than a standard six.
You get that. I was here to sixty and efficacy -- point six seconds which is.
Is not bad.
At all.
Lexus GS -- the age of 58950. Dollars.
-- this car we often have a blind spot monitor that's 500 dollars -- get that.
-- -- luxury package. 5000 foot and five dollars and includes applicable trim elements and nice that little.
-- here and there you can get better not nothing really essential --
And the navigation system with at twelve point three inch screen goes for 1735. That's essentially -- -- get that.
The DS where it is it's a lot of high points and tech.
That hybrid system gets great power and fuel economy adaptive suspension -- great handling.
And it's got app integration with all those other.
Cabin tech features it's all around a great tech car and -- no problem giving it -- editor's choice.
